Overview

I have mainly supported families, adults and children throughout my working life and I've lived in many places. I am aware of, and have been on, the roller-coaster ride called 'Life'. I understand the difficulties in asking for support, and that the universe has a funny way of directing us to our destination, so thank you for taking the first steps by looking at my website.

As a Humanistic Integrative therapist, and as a human being, I believe in the human capacity for change and growth. I believe our experience shapes our humanity and from birth, our need for relationships is intrinsic.

I have experience working with a range of issues including:

    • Abandonment
    • Anxiety
    • Depression
    • PTSD
    • Victims/perpetrators of abuse
    • Addiction
    • Bereavement
    • Complex trauma
    • Relationship problems

As a client you are not alone, therefore no judgement and respect underlies my relationship with clients. I value my clients for who they are and what they may be experiencing, therefore I seek to offer warmth, kindness, empathy and compassion including confidentiality and space to explore your feelings and your thoughts.

My Approach

All human life takes place in the context of relationships. Thus, as we can lose ourselves through problematic or even toxic relationships, we can find ourselves again through more accepting and nurturing ones. I experience my clients holistically, noticing the emotional, physiological, psychological and spiritual life of the client, understanding that sometimes growth and change occurs simply through acceptance.

Through tailored sessions, I support clients' paths in becoming more aware of how you think, feel and act in the present moment; I provide insight into ways in which you can overcome any unfinished business in order to live at your full potential.

I practice unconditional acceptance and non-judgement, with the belief that all human behaviour carries some meaning. It's been my experience that the therapeutic relationship can facilitate lasting change and growth. It does so by offering a client certain conditions - empathy, acceptance, and genuineness

I value the importance of a therapeutic relationship and I base my relationships with clients on trust and partnership. Thanks to my extensive experience, I am able to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment where you can feel acknowledged, listened to and supported.

Initial Counselling Assessment

Before we start working together, I offer a first session has an initial consultation. I will deeply explore your current issues with you and enquire about your background and work to establish a therapeutic goal for treatment.

I will also explain more extensively how I work and you will have the chance to ask questions to decide whether you would like to start therapy with me.

We will also discuss the options available to you, from long-term therapy to short-term counselling. You will leave the room with no uncertainty but with a clear idea of what you can expect from our work together.

Duration and frequency of sessions

I usually see my clients once a week for 60 minutes. I am flexible and can accommodate my clients' needs; depending on your schedule we may want to meet more or less frequently than this (if clinically appropriate), or you may sometimes want to come for longer sessions.

I tend to meet my clients at the same day and time every week, in order to get results; protecting some space in your diary makes this easier to achieve. While it is important to try and attend regular weekly sessions, I understand there may be times when this is not possible and I am happy to be flexible and work around these times with you.
